MLR Project Management & Consultancy will participate in Project Controls Expo Australia 2026, with Managing Director Marty Fuentes presenting on Time Impact Analysis and Window Analysis. The event takes place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from 23–25 November 2026, with Marty’s session scheduled for 25 November.

MLR’s participation supports its commitment to advancing best practices and contributing to the continued maturity of project planning, scheduling, project controls and forensic schedule analysis in Australia.

Sharing Best Practices in Project Planning and Controls

Marty brings more than 20 years of experience supporting project owners and contractors in Australia and internationally. His work across infrastructure, transport, buildings and other construction sectors has provided opportunities to observe, apply and evaluate different approaches to planning, scheduling and delay analysis.

That experience has shaped MLR’s ability to recognise effective practices, understand why they work and apply them to each project’s circumstances. Working from both client and contractor perspectives also provides insight into how schedule information supports project delivery and commercial decisions.

At Project Controls Expo Australia, MLR will share insights drawn from this experience while exchanging ideas with fellow practitioners. The aim is to contribute to stronger professional practice through practical knowledge and open discussion.

Marty Fuentes’ Presentation on Construction Delay Analysis

Marty will present “Getting Delay Analysis Right: When to Use Time Impact Analysis vs Window Analysis” within the Contract, Commercial & Dispute Resolution stream.

The session will explore why selecting an appropriate construction delay analysis method matters and how professional judgement supports that choice. It will connect scheduling practice with the questions project teams face when assessing delays and extension of time claims.

The presentation will highlight a principle central to MLR’s work: a credible delay assessment depends on reliable schedule information, an appropriate methodology and reasoning supported by evidence.

Supporting Project Controls Maturity in Australia

For MLR, improving project controls maturity means helping teams develop schedules they can rely on, understand the analysis methods they use and communicate findings clearly.

It also means recognising the limitations of available information and maintaining records that support informed decisions throughout project delivery. These practices help connect everyday planning and scheduling with effective delay assessment when issues arise.

Participation in Project Controls Expo Australia forms part of MLR’s commitment to sharing knowledge and learning from others. The event provides an opportunity to discuss common challenges and explore how proven practices can be applied effectively across different project environments.

“We Do It the Right Way”: MLR’s Commitment to Professional Practice

MLR’s mantra, “We do it the right way,” reflects the approach we bring to project planning, scheduling, controls and forensic schedule analysis.

It means understanding the project before drawing conclusions, choosing methods suited to the task and supporting findings with evidence. It also means explaining the reasoning clearly so that clients understand the basis of the advice they receive.

Through consultancy services and industry engagement, MLR aims to strengthen both project outcomes and the capability of the teams we support.

Delay Analysis by MLR

Different Delay Analysis Techniques

A number of claims analysis techniques have been introduced with varying degree of results accuracy and some often offer favorable outcome to the claims proponent, consequently, arising the difficulty for both sides to reach an agreement. The Time Impact Analysis (TIA) has been recognized by practitioners and researchers to produce the most reliable and unbiased results. The drawbacks of this method, however, are its complexity to perform and the stringent requisite of having well-maintained and relevant project documentations.

Building Information Modelling: The Future of Project Management

BIM-projects realised cost savings, faster delivery time, and overall improvements in productivity and quality of works through better collaboration of stakeholders and having a centralised repository of information. Several countries in Western Europe, North Americas, Asia, and other parts of the world have already adopted the use of BIM. It is a project management tool. It encompasses all aspects of project management. However, it requires involvement and competency of stakeholders to be effective.
